Just a little info..

I've finalized my blog makeover pricing if you want to have a look: Indelible Creations. Things are going along smoothly so far.

I've also opened my Etsy - I just haven't gotten around to deciding on my giveaway, yet. *sigh* It's hard to giveaway stuff when you don't know what people like. Drop by & let me know what you'd want to get! Indelible Expressions I have several more pairs of earrings, I just haven't gotten around to resizing the images for upload. So, leave me a comment - tell me which pair you wish you could have & I will see how I can give stuff away! Or tell me to upload more! I will upload up to 25 pairs (total), just not tonight.

Monday Morning.

Most of them are hated...dreaded...unwanted. The first day of the rest of the week. It's not so bad for me today. It's still summer, we get to go fishing this evening (cub scouts), and all is good on the home front.

Our "older" car, I'm referring to her as if she were just getting on in age because it's, well, respectful. You can read more about her here. This lovely elder car failed to pass emissions. They even gave us a new gas cap because she was emitting something from there. Now, Dock & I are debating whether or not it's worth it to keep her. We have gotten estimates. The first few places want to charge just $120 to "hook 'er up ta da computer - see what she got". Now, unlike most reasons one might think a vehicle fails emissions - i.e. carbon monoxide level too high, etc., this is something to do with "oxides"??? Go figure, the county we used to live in doesn't even have emissions testing to renew (license) plates. The car might be worth $120, but I don't think it's worth between the amounts we were quoted (broad range 50-600 bucks - helpful, no?). A little dilemma cause she still runs and has been wholly reliable, aside from a little acid (or whatever) buildup on the battery contacts that makes the car dead til we clean it & adjust the cables. She's near 200 and I guess her sputtering is maybe saying something. Eh, we'll see. We have an appointment this morning at 10 am.

Friday's Foto Finish Fiesta!

Another Friday of fun!

This my little brother & his 2 girls. I dont' get to see them very often & mom tells me it's rare that his older daughter (on the left) is smiling so candidly. She's pre-teen & we all know what that means. I find it amazing how much both of them resemble him. I wish I could spend more time around them all. I miss my bro.

Blogging on a Sunday & my heart stood still..

Da-doo-ron, ron, ron, da-doo-ron, ron. Yeah - feeling musical, I suppose.

I am reading all about the BlogHer conference, everywhere & wishing it was something I could have participated in. With family obligations, I don't know that I would have made it this year, anyhow. Maybe the next time it's in Chicago!

I am, however, digging the psuedo BlogHer Conference hosted by Kathy @ Mama's Losin' It. I didn't comment, but joined the Field trip troupe over at Camp Candid Carrie. I did not keep my arms inside the link. The weather was so beautiful, I couldn't help myself. I also promise that it wasn't me who pushed the others out of the way to get a front row seat. PROMISE!

I have been working on blog makeovers, making earrings & contemplating the best route to take to advertise. I should really follow the instructions Kathy is discussing in her Psuedo BlogHer Conference. Those tips will probably help. I think I could also do a giveaway or 2, just to get some more recognition. I need advice on this and on another topic. How do I overcome my fear of success/failure?

For now...I am off to comment on my bloggy friends' blogs. I've been reading & it's time, because I have some today.

Friday's Foto Finish Fiesta!

During my trp to Minnesota, we went to the Maplewood Nature Center. How cool is it that in the middle of a big city, there's this ginormous nature preserve? This place was supposed to have an abundance of turtles & frogs. Unfortunately, this little guy was the only reptile we saw. We did see lots of ducks, geese & other birds. Good thing Alexis has good eyes, otherwise we'd have missed his tininess, too.

Also - I've uploaded another pair of earrings for sale and I'm still offering blog makeovers for $15 bucks. The earliest I can plan anyone in is the week of September 1. I am thinking I'll get done with many of the makeovers sooner than that, but I would rather be safe than sorry. See here for information - Indelible Creations.

Finally! Feeling Minnesota part 1

Although my mom mentioned the state bird was the mosquito and my ankles & feet got rather chewed, Minnesota felt really, really good.

My cousins - Marnie, Ken & Michelle are really fantastic people. When we grew up, we didn't get to spend all that much time together. That isn't my story to tell, though, sad as it is. Since I haven't really had a chance to get to know them as adults, this was a supreme opportunity to do just that.

I drove the 8 hours there. The kids were actually very, very good. I can't even express how impressed I was with them. On the way there they didn't really sleep much, even though we left at 4:30 in the morning. Less sleep than they're used to & they were still good (I know, enough - but it was so impressive!). A couple of times, Andy got a little pissy, mocky & whiny so, I threatened to put him in the trunk. It worked.

I saw more of the Wisconsin highways than I ever thought possible. Wisconsin seems never ending when you're driving from one end to the other.

Marnie is married to Gregg. They have 2 boys together and Marnie has 2 older girls, too. The kids are Amber 12, Alexis 11 (my namesake - not really, but I like to think of it that way), Reece 5 and Cameron (almost) 6 months.

Cameron was beautiful and the best baby ever! He was full of happiness & smiles. A wonderful disposition all around. I miss the mornings at Marnie's because ours were lit daily by his huge grins. Plus, I didn't have to make my own coffee! Thanks, Marnie!

Reece was a very shy boy at first. He warmed up to us pretty quickly & I think Andy had something to with that. Reece has adorable blonde curls & is very, very sweet. Sometimes you don't know what to expect bringing 2 kids personalities together. It can be total chaos or total bliss. Fortunately for us, Andy & Reece were attached at the hip & got along famously! Aside from one day when little sleep finally caught up to Andy, both boys disappeared together. It was almost like they weren't even there. You can't ask for a better situation there.

Alexis - ahhhh, Alexis. Microwave popcorn bags clearly tell us where to open them, but she just doesn't care (I dunno why that struck me so funny, but it really did). She is an unusual personality, but sooooo wickedly cool! I like her for her ability to be different & not care about what anyone else might think (or so it seems). She likes to do things against the grain already. She has an odd sense of humor, but it works for her. I'm not sure how she became the different girl she is, but I hope she never changes! I look forward to knowing her as time passes.
Now, Amber has a great sense of humor, too - it's just different than Alexis'. Amber was a little more shy in the beginning, not too long after we got there, she opened up. She & Alexis are both very inquisitive in a very non-intrusive way. Some kids that age seem bossy or over bearing, but Amber is neither of those. She's sweet & fun and I hope to watch her blossom into adulthood as well. According to what Marnie has with those two, I'm just glad I don't have to be there for the fighting. Heh.

Spending time with Marnie & Gregg was a lot of fun. I realized how much Marnie & I have in common & how similar our personalities are. She is a caring person and a great mom! Gregg was soft spoken & no matter how much the girls said he was crabby, I didn't see it - not once! Marnie & I got to catch up on many years, talked over many a ciggy outside on her patio and the weather was fantastic for Minnesota!

While we were there, we also had the pleasure of meeting Gregg's family. My brother was telling me long ago about the Minnesotan accents. I didn't get to hear it in it's glory until we got to the pool party. Remember the movie Fargo? Yeah - that accent, only not so pronounced. His family was very kind & seem like a fun group of people. The kids got to swim & had a blast! Especially Andy! This was his crabby day - but once he was in the pool, he forgot to complain for the rest of the night. The baby LOVED the pool! It was so cute & hilarious, the giggles that came from Cameron!

Part 2 - Ken & his family.

A funny thing - Rated R for mature...

Okay - I have to blog about this before I forget. As I get older, I seem to forget more & more. Sadness...

So we (Dock & I) are watching WE tv last night. He tunes in once in a while. He's not afraid to show his sensitive, feminine side once in a while. Bwahahaha! 20/20 was on with one of those true crime mystery episodes. We love those, can't get enough.

Sometime during the show, there's this commercial. Kind of a shortened infomercial, really. Pos - T - Vac, I shit you not, is a penis vacuum. I did say vacuum. It seems to be a device designed to suck a penis erect. It even comes with its own lube & is covered by Medicaid & most insurance carriers. What?! Yes, me thinks it's a product directed toward the geriatric penis. (really?!) So, this penis vacuum is now a topic of serious comedy between Dock & I. Good thing the kids weren't around to ask "mom, what's that for?". I don't know that I would have been able to contain the laughter long enough to explain. Nor do I think I'm ready to explain something like that to the little ones.

The comedy we're enjoying from this isn't so much about the product itself, though that does carry a good deal of hilarity on its own. We found much more laughter in what Dock heard. He heard "pastabag". Upon asking me what the pastabag was for & my explanation of it, he reveled in the idea that he has his very own pastabag. It is, in fact, a part of me. We'll not get into the gory details because all you women have your own & those who use it, know it.

We proceed to crack up with every mention of the pastabag & what it does. Dock asks me to help him out via my pastabag. It is covered by insurance, so we're all good.

It's nice having him home for the week. Who knows what kind of pasta we might make tonight, or even if my pastabag will be put to use sometime during his vacay.

Back from my vacation!

Why is it that when we get back from a fun time - it takes forever to feel like we're back in the swing? I can't answer that, but I do want to share the ins & outs of the time spent with my cousins.

For now, though - I feel like I have so many things to do. So many! I have Dock man home for the week - he's taking his first vacay, at home (he's so boring)... Tomorrow we have plans to go visit the inlaws in Chicago. Today, I want to start putting together a blog makeover for Jaci. I have several emails to write (does that ever end?). I have emails to look at (see what happens when you would rather have fun than check them while on vacation - redirect like snail mail? No.). I also want to finish updating my own blog images. I have to set up my jewelry blog page & my Etsy shop - have to take pics of the earrings, set up a new paypal account & get verified or decide to use the old one. Not sure yet on the last part. I want to get going on my ad blog, just to see if it can actually bring in a little cash. Time is an illusion - it's gone before you know you have any.

So, over the next few days I will be visiting my bloggy friends - catching up on their daily grind; I will be creating a Jaci blog; finishing this blog o' mine; setting up my earring sales blog and my Etsy Shop; beginning the ad blog & trying toget that all started; and finally, telling you all about my family & the trip I took to Minnesota. Wish me luck because I don't think I have enough time in any day. ;)
